Review Summary

iBUYPOWER 9200 Gaming PC reviewThe iBUYPOWER 9200 now has 485 total reviews on Amazon with a 4.5 overall rating. Most reviewers explain the case as solid and beautiful, gaming performance as fantastic, and super easy to setup and get going. The only issues that have come up with so has been with the machine not booting to the right drive. The PC works great with with games such Rick and Morty VR, Dead Effect 2, and Fallout 4…”this thing rips through most triple a games maxed out at 1440p while staying above 60fps.” Here’s a sample of the most helpful reviews:

  • Had you asked me a couple of years ago about buying prebuilt, I would never have even considered it. In any case, I finally caved. I had to have this, and I’m absolutely thrilled with what I got. The case is really solid. Black with red LED lights on the fans and front panel of the case. On startup, SSD booted immediately to Windows 10. No issues experienced or bloatware of any kind aside from the usual Windows games and apps, so that’s very much appreciated. The few games I installed on the SSD as opposed to the HDD load incredibly fast. Multi-tasking is seamless with no hiccups. Can easily alt-tab in and out of games and browse the web/youtube without much slow down, if any. Game performance is fantastic at 1080p. With some tweaking, RIse of the Tomb Raider, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, GTA V, and Witcher 3 all run flawlessly at 60 fps, all settings either Ultra or High.
  • First I’m going to start by saying this case is beautiful, the tempered glass sides show the clean wiring and components great. For the price of this I could not find anything with the same or similar specs for near the it. The pc runs cool while multitasking and gaming. Speaking of gaming, I’m blow away by this PC. I immediately installed Star Citizen, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, Wow, Battlefield 1, and Star Wars Battlefront. All games play on maxed out ultra settings flawless. Thanks again!
  • I have built many gaming systems but after a while I just didn’t have time to go and research the latest and greatest components. So I decided to purchase a pre built systems that would closely replicate what I myself would choose to build. I can tell you……look no further than this gaming rig.

The Hour of Power

Digging deeper into the Gaming Laptops world reveals the MSI GS43VR Phantom Pro-069 Ultra Portable Gaming Laptop. It’s not just a gaming laptop or ultra portable laptop, it’s both! It comes in both 14.3 Inch and 15.6 sizes and packs a punch with the Intel Core i7-7700HQ (7th gen Intel) and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 gaming card. Battery life is about 4 hours when doing intense gaming. It’s got 41 customer reviews on Aazon with a 4 star rating and 108 answered questions.

This review on Notebook check indicates that this second generation GS63VR is much more improved with more power efficient Kaby Lake and Pascal options and is now much more thin. The 4K UHD panel is a mixed bag due in part to its RGBW pixel array. Raw performance from the i7-7700HQ is only marginally better than the previous Skylake i7-6700HQ in multi-threaded workloads. This beast struggles to run most games at the native 4K UHD resolution with many titles averaging below 30 FPS but…if you trun down the settings to the low-medium range shframe rates are between the 30 and 60 FPS range. Most titles will otherwise run at 60 FPS or higher when gaming at 1080p with all settings set to High or Maximum.

Full details include:

  • 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad-Core
  • 32GB of DDR4 RAM | 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD
  • 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 eDP IPS Display
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB GDDR5)

  • The BEST laptop I’ve ever owned: I’ve been in the market for a portable workstation that could also be used for school and for some gaming. It was a race between this laptop, Razer Blade 14’’, Auros X3, GS63VR 7RE,Gigabyte 14’, and Asus GL502. All of them had at LEAST a 6700HQ/7700HQ and GTX 1060. Obviously, this laptop won. The big things that swayed me in this direction were weight (3.75lbs), price ($1500 with the 7th gen i7), Thunderbolt 3.0, and form factor (including cooling and noise level). The GS43VR is slightly larger than the Blade, but is lighter and has better cooling which leads to being quieter. The Auros has about the same specs but costs WAYYY more. The GS63VR 7RE is has the same specs as the GS43 but is larger, weighs more but has better cooling. The Gigabyte was larger, heavier, costs more. The Asus costs the same, has a 120HZ GSync screen, better cooling, BUT NO THUNDERBOLT! This machine has it all, and then some
  • Better than the 4K Version: I have had this laptop for about a week and it has been working really well for me. Originally i spent about $900 on a laptop without a graphics card and it couldn’t play any games whatsoever. Should have expected that. So when looking for a replacement i wanted something slim, plenty of space, a graphics card, and a nice overall design. This has all of that. Originally I looked at the 4k version of this laptop but i decided against it because unfortunately a 1060 laptop GPU will NOT play games at 4k very well. Just not going to happen. So instead I opted for the 1920×1080 screen and a higher SSD+RAM combo. My other reason for not going 4k was that it doesn’t always scale well and especially on smaller screens. while 15 inch laptops aren’t small perhaps, they aren’t 27-inch screens either.
  • Great Laptop: I’ve had the GS43VR for about a month and it’s one of the best gaming laptops I’ve had. It doesn’t have the top of the line gtx 1080 in it but it does kick out some power. This laptop was made for gamers who want portability. The 14 inch screen is the perfect size and the gtx 1060 is more than enough to play new games in medium to high quality. I really like that it has a thunderbolt 3 port too. I have the razer core and it works perfectly with this laptop. Just update your drivers, download razer synapse and you’re good to go. Works with the evga 1080ti! Its exceeded my expectations so far.

Acer Predator Helios 300 is a Gaming Beast Laptop ReviewOn the outside, the Predator Helios 300 looks like your typical gaming laptop. You’ll find it mostly black throughtout, red accents sprinkled here and there. The lid has a brushed hard plastic surface with the Predator logo. On the back, you’ll find the exhaust vents highlighted by two red lines, one of which expands across the bottom of the device in an attractive angled design. In actual games, the Predator Helios 300 to be a mixed bag. In For Honor it held up with 1080p resolution on medium detail settings. In Battlefield 1, is also performs well at the Medium detail preset. However, it monster games, it only managed 54 frames per second which is behind the Acer Predator 15 G9-593 and the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro.

Review Summary

The Predator Helios 300 has a 4 star overall review, 1,049 customer reviews, and 31 answered questions. Here’s a summary of recent reviews:

  • Top Notch Performance: You are getting a $,1049 laptop with the kaby lake i7, gtx1060, 16gb ram that is easy to upgrade, a 256 SSD, IPS screen. Is this entry level yes? Should you expect small details that aren’t on this model to drop the price? YES! But the things that were dropped from the G9-593-72VT are not performance changing items.
This rig easily handles new games from high to ultra settings killing it in FPS. I play Arma 3 which is extremely CPU intensive and horribly optimized. With some graphics tweaks I was still pushing 50 fps on high.
  • Compatible with Oculus Rift: Laptop works great for Virtual Reality with the latest Oculus Rift CV1 and $399 touch bundle. Here’s a tip for those worried about not enough usb 3.0 ports on the laptop for oculus users : To have the best oculus performance which requires 3 qty usb 3.0 ports, use the laptop’s left side usb (3.0) for the oculus headset and then buy this: “AmazonBasics USB 3.1 Type-C to 4 Port USB Hub”. This will allow you to convert the laptop’s left side usb c (3.1) port to usb 3.0 ports power the rift’s 2 usb sensors at usb 3.0 bandwidth speeds.
  • Awesome Gaming Laptop: When I saw the reviews for the Acer Predator Helios 300 with a 1060 card and 256 GB SSD. I was a little bit worried about the quality of the laptop based on some of the reviews here, but I can tell you almost everything about this computer is awesome. I’ve been playing games over the past two days, and it works flawlessly. No problems with the hardware or software. As soon as I started up the computer and went through the basic set up, I went to the Acer website and updated the BIOs and the Nvidia drivers. No problem whatsoever. I did order the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD – I will install it in the extra drive port (or whatever you call it!).

  • Best Laptop Value: I am a research nerd. I used to spend in excess of 50 million a year for the largest retailer of its kind in my industry, I am obsessive when comparing details and am even more obsessed with getting every last ounce of value for my money. This is a fantastic laptop for the majority of people, I do not intend to do heavy gaming or run heavy/complex programs. I spent about 20 working hours comparing over 400 laptops (nerd) from all major brands, and looked at over 300 deals(super nerd) offered on laptops by all major retailers on both black friday and cyber monday. I chose this laptop for $329 on cyber monday, and although it was only $20 off, versus others that were $200 or more off, this was still the most computer for the money.
  • Incredible Deal and Easy to Upgrade: This model (1TB HD, 4GB RAM) is the best buy in low budget laptops for many reasons. I was prepared to return it but it’s exceeded my expectations. First, it has features almost never found in even sub $800 unit much less $329 – backlight keyboard, 1920 x 1080 display and upgradable/replaceable storage. For those reasons alone, it’s a 5 star machine.
  • Great if you Know What You’re Doing: This system is excellent for those who just need a reasonable system without having to pay an arm and a leg for it. Although, it can be kind of slow. Be aware this is NOT a super duper gaming laptop. If it was it would have a dedicated video card and an i5 at least. SIt’s even better for advanced users such as myself. Why? Because us advanced users like to upgrade the system. Unlike prior versions of Acer Aspire laptops where you have to take the entire bottom cover off, safely and slowly disconnect a dozen cables, and then remove a bunch of random parts just so you can get to replacing the RAM or hard drive, this system allows you to easily unscrew 3 screws and pop out the bottom to replace the hard drive for a faster 7200 RPM one, add an M.2 SSD, or upgrade the RAM.

The ASUS VS248H-P 24″ has a whopping 8,527 reviews on Amazon with a 4.5 overall rating, and 1000+ answered questions. Here’s a snag of the best reviews on this monitor.

  • Awesome monitor at a ridiculously fair price: So my main rig died after about 8 years of faithful service and so it was time for some upgrades. I decided that while I was upgrading the one rig, I’d build a pair of new ones for my wife and I, relegating my old rig to standard downloading/streaming tasks. After reading through a metric ton of reviews I settled on this ASUS, and I’ve not been disappointed. In fact, I liked it so much that I ordered two more, and will likely order another one or two, making it the standard monitor for my house.
The picture is beautiful, paired with my 980Ti it blows my old setup away. And for the price, you can’t beat it. Picked all of mine up for around $110 a piece.Honestly, the only thing I would change if I could is the finish. It’s that glossy black that is impossible to keep clean. I would have preferred a matte black finish. But honestly it’s hair splitting at this point.
  • Excellent Budget Monitor: First off to address the complaints of “graininess” observed by some owners due to the matte finish: Lower your brightness! The pearly shimmery effect is only noticeble at the maximum 100% brightness which is around 270 cd/m2 (~20 cd/m2 higher than advertised). However, at the max brightness level, most users would find it uncomfortable to use for more than 30 minutes anyway. The factory settings are only set to this max limit to impress buyers in stores and when they turn on the monitor for the first time! The recommended comfortable brightness level for any monitor during regular use is 120 cd/m2 which translates to a setting of 35-40% brightness on this model. The user can easily change this setting through the OSD menu using the built in buttons.
  • Excellent in Gaming: Two months in I love how fast it responds while gaming with no ghosting. The colors out of the box are terrible and I did have to mess with the color options.
  • Excellent Monitor at the Price: I bought a pair of these for a dual monitor setup. The menu and presets are easy to get to and use. The contrast isn’t as great as my previous ASUS monitor and this one has better specs. I’ve tried several calibrations as posted on the reviews but I just can’t get the clarity of my older ASUS monitor. Since I use this primarily for gaming I notice it the difference in the extreme, but hope that maybe there is another setting i’m just not seeing, however, At this price point, it was difficult to pass up.

Hello internet, blogsphere, and ,eventually, the Augmented Reality web. We’re back.

Not that you missed us. Really. You probably never actually knew who we were. Lol.

But that doesn’t matter, we’re back.

Who We Were

But, really, who were we? Way back around ten years ago, we created and ran a tech blog that won’t be mentioned by name. From 2008 to 2012, we did regular blog posts summarizing that best laptops that you could find on Bestbuy, Amazon, and anywhere else across the web.

After about three years of doing this, things really began to grow. We were making money from Amazon when people were reading our posts and buying from them. Advertisers were approaching us and paying us money by placing ads across the site. Natural link building began happening because people loved what they read. In all, things were fabulous.

What Happened

And then, at the height of our so call success, we made one wrong mistake and lost everything. Around 2011, we had been experimenting with different types of marketing and we’re just too aggressive in our link building strategy. And then, in 2012, Google began to penalize any type of aggressive link building and everything crumbled when Google decided to deindex our site.

All was lost. It was a sad time.

At that time, we decided to take a ten year break from the whole tech blogging world. It was time well spent!

  • We spent time learning “the right way” to build and promote sites in Google.
  • We created a company called PushLeads specializing in SEO, Pay Per Click, and Web Design Services.
  • We built up a clientele of 30+ satisfied clients.
  • We’ve serving 15 clients on an ongoing basis.

What Now?

However, during all of that time, we’ve really missed doing tech blogging. Call us crazy, but we absolutely love hardware, building computers, reading reviews, doing reviews ourselves, and summarizing what’s popular!

So, with bitbys, we’re back. We’re back, baby! On today, March 13th, 2018, we set this new blog into the digital realm!

Within this blog, we plan to:

  • Review the most popular laptops, desktops, and smartphones from across the web
  • Discuss current tech trends
  • Take a look and up and coming hardware
  • Peer into the future at emerging technologies.

So, sit back and enjoy the ride!
